Digital Communications Specialist and Freelance Journalist

I’m Caroline, a recent college graduate with experience in journalism, radio and communications!
My journalism content can be found on multiple platforms and forms, including web content writing, print and radio. With a Park Center for Independent Media grant, I interned with the Ithaca Voice and spent the summer as a general assignment reporter in 2024. Now I’m a digital communications fellow working in Anchorage, Alaska.
I’ve previously interned at the Chesapeake Bay Program, writing blogs about creatures in the watershed and longer articles about restoration efforts working to improve the health of the Bay. On campus, I wrote for my school paper, The Ithacan, and created podcast segments for our radio station WICB 91.7 FM.
I write stories about my community with a specific focus on environmental issues the area faces and innovative solutions that are being implemented to improve the environment. In 2022, my piece “Spotted Lanternflies Arrive in New York” won the Park Student Writing Award for Best Journalistic Essay. In Spring 2023, the Society of Professional Journalists awarded my piece “Ithaca Now – The Band’s Visit: Interview with Ali Bourzgui” a Region One Finalist distinction for Best Radio Feature.
